What you can measure from outside a channel

Public data covers more than people expect: upload dates, titles, thumbnails, durations, view counts, likes and comments. That is enough to see publishing rhythm, format changes and which videos broke the pattern.

What stays private is the part that decides revenue: watch time, retention curves, traffic sources and RPM. Any tool claiming those numbers for someone else's channel is estimating, and the estimates are frequently wrong by an order of magnitude. Use them for direction, never for a figure you repeat.

Reading a niche instead of a single channel

The useful unit of analysis is the topic, not the channel. Track who published on a subject and when, and the shape of the niche appears: which formats keep getting made, how fast reviews follow a launch, where the gap is between search demand and supply.

That gap is the only reliable opening for a smaller channel: a subject people search for where the existing videos are old, thin or absent.

Earnings questions, answered honestly

There is no fixed rate per thousand views. Revenue per thousand swings by niche, country, season and ad format, and content marked as made for kids loses personalised ads entirely. Anyone quoting one number is averaging away the thing that actually varies.

Producing for a niche at a sane pace

Fix the format and vary the subject. Same length, same structure, same voice, different topic. That is what makes a channel renderable rather than exhausting, and it is also what makes the analysis above meaningful: when only the subject changes, you can see which subjects worked.
